Chemical Peels for Conditions from Acne to Aging

Superficial chemical peels (so-called “lunchtime peels”) performed by cosmetic dermatologists are popular in-office procedures that can improve the look and feel of your skin. Cosmetic peels treat the top layers of the skin, speeding up turnover in the most superficial layer (not to be confused with medium depth or deep peels). This reveals newer skin, improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and skin tone. At Dermatology Consultants of Short Hills, Dr. Richie Lin performs these procedures for many clients from throughout northern New Jersey, including Essex, Morris and Union Counties.

Facial chemical peels can be used for a variety of cosmetic procedures, including chemical peels for acne and chemical peels for scars. Facial peels can also be used to improve sun spots (lentigines), fine lines, melasma, acne and blemishes. Different peeling agents, such as salicylic acid, trichloracetic acid (TCA), glycolic acid chemical peels and Jessner’s solution are available.

Treatments can be done in the office in less than 30 minutes, and you can resume normal activity immediately.

Side effects of chemical peels are minimal. For optimal results 3 to 5 peels done every 2 to 4 weeks are recommended.

Board certified dermatologists have undergone in-depth training regarding the structure and function of the skin, uniquely qualifying them to administer and prescribe chemical peel treatments. More importantly, a dermatologist can advise you regarding other skin care products, treatments and procedures to maintain the health and appearance of your skin. If you live in Summit, Morristown, Kinnelon or anywhere in northern New Jersey and would like to determine whether or not a chemical peel is appropriate for your skin, please call Dermatology Consultants of Short Hills at 973-232-6245 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Lin.
